We’re hoping you were lucky enough to participate in the 41st Running of the York White Rose Run 5 Miler on September 15, 2018. As you had heard, the White Rose is now owned and managed by the York Road Runners Club.
We were amazed and gratified by the turnout and by our wonderful volunteers. 325 of the 348 registered arrived at the start line and completed the race and over 90 dedicated volunteers made everything work so well! The York White Rose Bar and Grill provided our post-race festivities, including sandwiches and drinks. They also hosted the Friday evening packet pickup and made a special menu and drink for runners. Extras included York Revolution’s Cannonball Charlie who started the race and Downtown (the large, blue fuzzy mascot) who greeted runners at the finish line. Our favorite bagpiper, Rodney Yeaple was at his usual spot at the top of Farquhar Park to help the runners up the hill. The Temple Guard Drum Line entertained the runners during the first mile of the race and again at the finish line. Shane Speal and the Snakes provided music at the post-race party.
We sure appreciate your participation as a runner or volunteer and found your feedback on our post-race survey to be super helpful. The feedback was highly positive with many great suggestions.
Next steps: We are coordinating with the city to identify the date of the 42nd Running in 2019. As soon as we know the date, we’ll put out “Save the Date” information on this website, on our YRRC Facebook page, and on the emails sent out by YRRC board member Mark Landis. We are also eager to get more sponsors for next year. If you are interested in being a sponsor or know someone who may be interested, please contact Karen Mitchell.
