Location:  White Rose Bar & Grill
48 N Beaver Street
York, PA US 17401

These are the top 10 reasons for running (or volunteering for) the White Rose Run 5 Miler.

  1. York Road Runners Club owns and organizes it. It’s your club.  And it’s organized by runners for runners!!
  2. Proceeds from the race support the York Chapter of Not One More, Inc., a nonprofit organization committed to providing awareness, education and support to those affected by drug abuse and addiction. If you would like, you can add a donation when you register.

  1. This is a race with a history. This will be the 42nd
  2. It runs through the streets of York City, including downtown, Farquhar Park, the Avenues, and Fireside.
  3. There is a really fun post-race party with free beer and a sandwich and live music.
  4. Parking will be readily available and easy on race morning.
  5. York Revolution is providing us with our race start by Cannonball Charlie and lots of fun with mascot Downtown.
  6. Traffic control provided by Area Wide Protective.
  7. Some 90 volunteers to add to your enjoyment, provide water, and keep you running in the right direction.
  8. The Temple Guard Drumline is back!! You loved this last year!
  9. Great tech shirts with a nice design again this year for those who’d like to order it.
  10. Age group awards are very cool running caps with a nice design.
  11. You can easily sign up: https://runsignup.com/YorkWhiteRoseRun
  12. If you’re late signing up, you can sign up on Friday night or Saturday morning. But we recommend that you avoid the rush, reserve your shirt, and make things easier on yourself, by signing up online.
  13. The Stroller Division is back! Just show up with a stroller and a child, and we’ll record the male and female winners.
  14. Enter the Team Challenge. When you register, create a team, or pick an already registered team from the drop-down menu.   Be the biggest team – appropriate recognition on race day.  Or be the winning team.
  15. You can sign up to volunteer at the same location!

OK, lots more than 10 reasons.  We hope you’ll join us!!

York White Rose Run, the 42nd Running, is September 28, 2019!!!

The York White Rose Run is back for its 42nd running in the streets of York.  Almost everything is the same as last year, except:

  • The race will start this year at 8:00 am, 1/2 earlier than last year.
  • We are pleased to announce our partnership with Not One More, Inc as our race beneficiary.

What remains the same is our beautiful course that runs through our fine city; start and finish, plus post-race party at the White Rose Bar and Grill; our team of cyclists to lead and keep you safe; the York Revolution’s Cannonball Charlie and mascot Downtown; live music with free food for runners and volunteers at the post-race party; prize money for the top runners; cap awards for age groups awards; really nice tech shirts; The Temple Guard Drumline; our team challenge and the stroller division;  our bagpiper at Farquhar Park; and so much more!

End of Year Updates

We hope you’ll follow us on our new website.  We’re working hard to make it useful for our YRRC members, but we have a lot to learn and a lot to update.

Yesterday (12/29/2018) was our Winter Series John Rudy Park 5 Miler and 1 Mile event.  We had more than 300 in the main event and more than 100 in the 1 Mile event!!  The results can be found by clicking or tapping on this website menu at YRRC Winter Series/WS Results/Winter Series 2018-19 Results.  We will keep updating as the series progresses.

Planning for the 2019 White Rose Run 5 Miler continues.  You may wonder why we haven’t posted a date yet.  Our board and White Rose committee members believe that it’s best NOT to have the event in downtown York City the same date as York’s Bike Night.  The Bike Night date was announced only two weeks ago, just before the holidays, and they have selected 9/21/2019.  Now we are working to confirm our White Rose date.  It looks like it will be either 9/28/2019 or 10/5/2019 and we will announce as soon as possible.  The White Rose Run information on this website and on runsignup is NOT updated, and will be soon.

Anyone interested in volunteering?  We’d like to fill several positions:

Events Coordinator:  This person will primarily continue our tradition of the Beginner Runners program.  Hal Darr has led this program for many years, actually decades, and feels it’s time to step down.  We hope this important tradition will continue, but everything the club does, including this, requires club member leadership.

Sponsor Coordinator:  This person will, with the assistance of the YRRC Board and the White Rose committee, identify and coordinate with potential sponsors.  Sponsorship is used to defray the costs in putting on the White Rose Run and other programs, including providing funds to donate to the charity that the White Rose supports.

Web Administrator:  Our current web administrator, Ned Einsig, will be moving on at the end of 2019, so we’re looking for someone to learn during 2019 and take over the job in 2020.  We’re using WordPress and runsignup.  Interested?

And we can always use people as volunteers at our events, or to work on  YRRC committees such as the White Rose committee or the Winter Series committee.

If you are interested or have any questions, please feel free to contact us at: presidentyrrc@gmail.com.

And if you are not a YRRC member, we hope you’ll sign up at: runsignup.com/Club/PA/York/YorkRoadRunnersClub

If you ran the EBACC 5K on 7/21/2018, you’ll want to check out the pictures at our York Road Runners Club Flickr site.  Pictures are by Clay Shaw and you should be able to download them for your own use.  The race, the first of the Run 717 Series, was contested on a typically hot day in July.  We hope you’ll enjoy these images.   You can also see albums from lots of other races at this link.  Dover pictures will be up soon.
